Salt Rock, a family owned ice cream parlor in Salt Lakes City, has closed for good.
Owner Mark Salt said the family decided to close after six years because of the high cost of ice cream.
“I don’t want to have to buy new ice cream because the ice cream is too good,” Salt said.
“We’re really happy to see that it’s been over for now, but we are going to try to do things differently for the next couple of years.”
The family of five had a business that started in 1992.
It had an ice cream shop and ice cream truck in Salt lake City and the next year opened a store in Utah City.
The Salt Rock family said they wanted to keep their shop open because they wanted their customers to feel they were part of the family.
The family said it was a tough decision, but they’re thankful to have a great family who made it possible.
“This has been a really tough decision for us, and I know it will be for a lot of other families that are going through the same thing,” Salt told FOX 13.
Salt Rock is located at 719 North Highway 20, Salt Lake, UT 84121.
