A new Utah restaurant is taking its dairy-free ice cream idea one step further by offering it without the dairy, salt, and all the other dairy ingredients you’d normally see in a frozen dessert.
The ice cream comes in flavors like almond butter, coconut cream, and pistachio.
But if you like a more traditional flavor, you can choose between the traditional flavor of vanilla ice cream, almond butter and maple syrup, or almond milk, vanilla, and coconut oil.
The ice cream can also be made with whole milk, or in one of a few other flavors, like almond and almond butter or almond butter plus a dash of vanilla.
Salt flats has been serving the ice cream in Utah for two years, and is hoping that the new flavor will help it expand its business to more restaurants.
“This is an experiment, and it’s definitely a way to give back,” co-owner Jessica Siegel told the Salt Lake Tribune.
“We wanted to give people something they didn’t have before.”
The Salt Lake City restaurant opened in August.
